Market Research Questionnaires
We gave questionnaire's to student of our target audience (which is 15+ years old) to see their personal choices in films. From the questionnaire's we found that most people watch films 2-3 times a week and it is usually with another person. Also a lot of people said that they would not watch a film noir and this influenced our decision to change the conventions in our own film noir to make it more modern and less traditional to attract the younger audience.
Change to Original Storyline
The orignal concept for what was going to happen in our Opening Title Sequence has changed due to the recognition of new and more interestring ideas. The stalker in the original storyline has been changed to a hullucination in the Fem Fatal's mind, a relentless apparariton representing a past romance that would be revealed i n the rest of the film.
The scene featuring the Fem Fatal playing poker in a basment with various male characters has been cut completely to allow the scene with the imaginary stalker to flow more smoothly. It also seemed that the basment scene would add another, unecessary dimension of mystery to the new idea making the title sequence overly complicated. The voice over of the female characters thoughts have also been removed as it interrupts the creation of tension.
The end of the scene also no longer shows the Fem Fatal being shot, instead breaking down due to the stress of her mental state.
The location of the whole stalking scene has changed too, with a more suburban setting replacing the urban riverside site in an attempt to move away from conventions and show the Fem Fatal walking home.
